My tooth cracked and had to be extracted after root canal treatment. Can a crown be fitted?

Q.
I have had RCT on UL6 and was left for 6 months until any other treatment (check up) Just a week before my appointment, this tooth fractured and resulted in being extracted. Would the length of time this tooth was left, in a brittle state, be the reason this fractured? I had finished antibiotics 2 weeks prior to RCT so would infection be reduced? Would a temp crown be fitted in all RCT cases? Thankyou
A.
Unfortunately this is one of the risks of root canal treatment. In many cases we have to wait before a crown can be put on to see if the infection has settled.
