My teeth have chipped as a result of aligners, what can I do?

Q.
Hi, i started my Invisalign treatment in an Harley St clinic around a month ago, i am on my 2nd set of trays, but taking these out/putting them in has resulted in parts of 2 of my teeth falling off, i have never experiences this before and am really concerned. i have nearly finished paying for the treatment and now im panicking. In your opinion, do you think i have good grounds to stop the treatment and ask for a refund? Thank you.

Hello, I’m so sorry to hear you are having problems with your Invisalign.

Unfortunately without seeing you I couldn’t advise on if you should stop the treatment nor ask for a refund.

I can tell you that it would be incredibly strange for your teeth to just break from taking your aligners in and out. You may have had some cracks or decay in the teeth before your treatment was started.

Did you have a full examination before starting treatment? If not I would strongly recommend you have this done so that you avoid any further broken teeth. But also, get the teeth that have already broken fixed, you will just have to be careful as you need to ensure that the aligners still fit once your fillings have been done. When you see your dentist to fix your teeth, ensure you take your aligners with you and show the dentist before you start treatment.

M Oberdeck Says :

I had about ten buttons put on my teeth and my first Invisalign tray put in this morning. There was glue was all over my teeth, the tray was initially stuck to my teeth with the excess glue and had to be wrenched off by the dental assistant, then the excess glue had to be ground off. Now two of my teeth are chipped. Is this common with Invisalign, or is it just poor dental work?
