My Teeth Are Decayed Due To Acid Reflux, Can I Get Them Crowned On The NHS?

Q.
I have been to the dentist today and my teeth have severe decay through acid reflux, which I have been having treatment for over the last 2 years or more at my local hospital needing several operations to stretch the oesophagus to prevent me bringing food and liquid back up from continuously . The dentist said the cost will be over £6000 to have them crowned, as this comes under cosmetic treatment, is this correct? the other option he gave me was to have my teeth out and he would fit dentures on the NHS, something I really could not have in my mouth, can you offer any advice please, is it possible to have crowns or caps on the NHS due to other medical conditions? Kindest regards
A.
It’s an individual choice of the dentist really so you’ll need to speak to them further about whether or not it’s an option for you, but to me it does sound like the treatment is cosmetic and won’t be possible on the NHS. It may be worth your while to ask around different dentists to see if somebody will do it for you. Hope this helps.
