My son`s top incisors have overlapped

Q. My son`s top incisors have overlapped . Is there anything we can do to rectify this? He is 19yrs old and in the past has undergone some extensive orthodontic treatment.

A. At his age I wouldn’t recommend anything other than having this corrected with braces and then having a fixed retainer (a thin wire) attached to the back of the teeth to prevent any further movement.

Veneers are another option but these are more invasive and expensive and would need to be replaced every 10-15 years.

Although he may not want to wear a brace again after already undergoing extensive orthodontic treatment, there are many options available such as invisible braces, so this may be more encouraging for him.

Kind regards
