My porcelain veneers are fitted very close together Is there a way to fix it?

Q. Hi Dr Glaister, I had 6 porcelain veneers fitted nearly two years ago to my top front teeth as I had very crooked teeth and large canines. I wasn’t very happy with them when i first saw them but thought that i just needed to get used to them because they were so different to my own teeth. However, after nearly two years i still don’t like them and it’s getting me very down. The reason I don’t like them is because they are fitted very close together and I think this makes them look very fake, and it also means I’m having to floss every time i eat. Is there any way they can be altered without having to replace them, as I really can’t afford to have them done again?

A. I would suggest going back to your original dentist and discussing how you feel and see if he/she are able to adjust them in any way or discuss with you what can be done to improve them. I would mention that you are flossing constantly.
