My Partner Is Finding Her Top Denture Uncomfortable To Wear. Is There Such A Thing As A ‘Top Self Denture’?

Hello Dr Gambroudes. My partner has top dentures (all except one canine tooth). She has a thing about them and it is making her very self conscious and they are making her very sensitive and unhappy. I think she would be better with a top set that are top of the market so to speak, is there such a thing? She is too young to be going through this, she does have her bottom teeth, but she had a gum problem which is why she has top dentures. Please can you help us? Regards.

Yes, there is such a thing as a ‘top shelf’ denture and in general the higher the quality of materials and workmanship of the fitting, the higher the costs will likely be. She could also consider ‘implant retained dentures’. The best thing to do is visit a highly experienced prosthodontist and discuss through all of her options.
