my jaw is offline and I need to have it broken to re align it

Q. I have been told i have an offline jaw. Before i was told this i never noticed my jaw and was only worried about my teeth. Experts told me that the only way to sort this would be a 5 hour long operation, where they would break my jaw to re-aline it and then give me braces. Would veneers be a possible alternative?

A. The only reason to go through the surgery is if problem with your off line jaw is causing pain and discomfort from your jaw joints or if it causing breakdown of your teeth.
It is very difficult to tell if veneers would be suitable. They wouldn’t align your jaw but they may be able to fix any bite problems that you have. This can be done with a combination of porcelain veneers and onlays. Make sure that you speak to a restorative dentist that has a knowledge of occlusion, this is the study of the jaw and how teeth bite together. If you live in Buckinghamshire or are willing to travel I would be happy to see you for a consultation. My practice phone number is 01296 624163.
Kind Regards
