My doctor has suggest two option to create my perfect smile, a brace or root canal surgery. Which is the better option?

Q.
Hi
I have been having consultations with a dentits. He was going to fit several crowns and veneers with a bridge to create a perfect smile. However he has said today after taking molds that one of my teeth is too crooked and that really I need braces onit. I cant afford this and it would take years. He said the only alternative was to do a root canal kill off the tooth and put a porcelain veneer on top, he said there were risks and it was un ethical, but as I still seemed interested he would do it for me. To me any type of purely cosmetric dentistry is invasive and could be seen as unethical. Do you think it is ok to carry on with this? inorder to achieve what I set out to do or is it too much of a risk? Many thanks
A.
Dear Enquirer,
Your dentist has been giving you sound advice. They are trying to offer you the treatment option that is the ‘kindest’ to your teeth.
You can however still choose to go ahead with treatment if you are not willing or able to have braces. If you choose to have a root canal treatment in a tooth that is healthy, in order for you to have a perfect smile, then it has no other associatd risk factors than if a tooth was being root treated for health reasons.
