My Daughter Has To Wait Till She’s 17 To Get Braces And I Can’t Afford To Go Private. What Should We Do?

Q.
Hello Dr Mark. My problem is that my daughter is massively insecure about her teeth, she stopped sucking her thumb at the age of 15 (it was a serious habit) in order to be on the waiting list for braces she has to wait until she was 17! Unfortunately I do not have the money to go private or I would, have you got any tips in helping me with this problem or any alternatives in her receiving braces any quicker without going private? I hope you can help us with this. Thank you in advance for any information and advice you can provide us with

Hello. Sorry, I am unable to help with queries about NHS treatment as I only work in Private Practice and have done for almost 20 years, so I’m not familiar with the standards now in place. Please check with another local NHS dentist or PCT and see if they can fit your daughter in. Searching the web may be able to help you or phoning the helpline directly. I hope this helps. Best of luck. Mark.
