My crown has been filed away and there is a gap between gum and tooth, is this normal?

Q.
My gold crown was filed down in the top centre of the tooth to make it fit better. The gold has been filed away leaving what looks like the cement or the filling (I had root canal). Is the crown still effective after its been filed (drilled) away like this please?

Also the crown does not meet the gum – ie i can feel a slight gap with my tongue. Is this normal?

I would discuss your concerns with your dentist

I’m horrified to have a crown after being told that they’ll have to cut my gum back to anchor the crown.

I ‘m sure it will only be a minor procedure and the final result should be worth it

You can trim a small amount off but too much may make the teeth sensitive. Speak to your dentist x

I am getting married in August and am really worried about my teeth. It’sthe one day that I have to smile LOTS and I am looking to see what my options are please? My left eye tooth came through when I was 14, bigger and more crooked (one side sticks forward) than I thought it would. My right eye tooth has still not fallen out so is smaller than the left. About 6 months ago, what would appear to be my new eye tooth, started to poke out of my gumbut further backward than it should be to push out my right fang. Since this started, I have a constant irritation at the top of my mouth on the right and it feels like my top teeth are changing position. They feel more wiggly than ever and I am dreading what I will look like on my wedding day, andafterwards! My densist had advised that ‘I just have to wait for it to fall out, then we can consider a brace’, at 25!! Could you let me know whatoptions I have? Thanks,
