Lumineers veneers for my sensitive teeth?

Q. I have very sensitive teeth. My dentist has suggested that I have 6 teeth veneered. I prefer the idea of lumineeers . When are these not suitable? Are they harder to colour match. How long would it take from start to finish and what is the approx cost. How long would ordinary veneers take to fit and what would be the cost?

A. Dear H,

Regarding treating sensitivity with veneers it wouldn’t always be my first choice, sometimes simple fillings added to the tooth surface would be an easy way to assess the benefit of veneers.

Lumineers are best when you don’t have to mask heavy discolouration or correct large discrepancies for alignment, you can still use them but the added benefits vs conventional veneers are less. A good case would be closing spaces between teeth. Colour match is an issue if you are changing/ masking natural colours.

£5-600 per lumineer ( depends on build up )

Ordinary veneers take the same time to fit, polishing margins is important, 30 minutes per veneer sometimes two visits to polish this is the same as lumineers Cost £420 per veneer

Best Wishes

Hi Rob, Says :

I have just read your reply re: cost and if lumineers are a better choice or not. My question would be for your recommendation for stained/discoloured teeth (by tetracycline). Mine have been whitened twice already (Zoom) and of course they are a lot better but they are far from being white. Most of the people say there is nothing wrong with them but i still don’t like the photos of me smiling as they are way too yellow/greyish (especially comparing someone smiling next to me). They are slightly crooked as well but not too bad. What would be your recommendation? Invisalign and more whitening (what i’m concerned about doing too many times) or lumineers? I really liked the idea of lumineers first but since I have read a lot of bad as well. The price is also quite high for me. I’d also like to keep my original teeth as long as i can as apart from the colour there hasn’t been anything wrong with them. Please advise. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi, I am pricing up cosmetic surgery e.g porcelain veeners and was reccommeded this dentist from a friend. I am unhappy with the layout of my bottom teeth and was wondering if veneers are possible for the lower set. If so, how much would a consultation be? Thank You
