I’ve stopped wearing my retainer and my teeth have moved forward, what do you advise?

Q.
Hi, I am 20 years old, I had braces from 13-18, i wore my retainer afterwards, stopped wearing it as much a month ago and now i can feel my front teeth coming forward, I put my retainer back on, but it doesnt seem tight anymore, I dont know what to do, I havent been to my orthodonist for ages, and dont want to go back because he will have a go at me for not wearing the retainer all the time. If I continue to wear the retainer will they stop moving forward? or do i need to get help? Thanks,
A.
If you continue to wear the retainer on a daily basis it should prevent further movement, but it would be wise to check back with your orthodontist. You could always try a simple orthodontic treatment liek the Inman aligner or Simpli5 to move them back and then i’d strongly advise that you get fixed retainers for long term stability
