I’ve Seen Two Dentists And They Both Refused To Extract My Teeth. What Should I Do?

Hi Mark. I have been to 2 private dentists in the last 6 weeks. I have been disappointed with both decisions. I have 8 10 year old crowns. I have gaps and they are disgusting. I also have an overbite and receding gums. I have a partial denture and 8 natural teeth. My 2 canines are like dracula’s due to the receding gums. The first dentist they would remove the upper set of teeth but are not willing to remove the bottom set of teeth. They’ll insert an upper denture but it has to match the colour of my bottom teeth. I said, “if I’m paying you I would like all of my teeth removed please”. They refused. The 2nd dentist said, “I am sorry I am not willing to remove any of your teeth, they are still quite strong”. Even though a crown fell out of my mouth 6 weeks ago whilst eating. I was very disappointed and came out of the dentist disheartened. It has cost me a lot of money in X-rays and consultation fees. I still have these dreadful teeth that I have to live with and talk with. It is so embarrassing. If I went to a hairdressers and asked them to cut my teeth, they would do it. It’s shocking. What should I do?

Hello. If removal of your teeth is not in your best interests nor indeed detrimental to your long term health and well being then they may be taking the ethical and moral standpoint. If your teeth and roots are in good condition then why not ask replace all the crowns for a more stable and natural result than a denture or implants? You cannot compare having your hair cut to surgically removing your teeth as the hair will grow back. My advice is go to see a Restorative Specialist or highly experienced cosmetic dentist to discuss your options and choose a practice where they do a lot of dental implants and have replaced multiple teeth many times.
