I’ve been experiencing gradually worsening jaw ache since getting a filling. What should I do?

Q.
Hello. I had a dental filling done about four weeks ago and about two weeks ago I started to get and ache on that side of the jaw. It’s not an awful pain and until today (four weeks since the dental treatment) I haven’t needed pain killers. I went to the doctors two days ago and he couldn’t see anything obvious and prescribed some anti inflammatory tablets. Could this ache be related to the dental treatment? The pain is on the left side of my face and at it’s worst it feels as if the ache is spreading to left ear along the jaw.

I would recommend you re-visit your dental practitioner to get him to check why you are experiencing the pain after a tooth filling. One reason could be that the the filling is a bit “high” and could need slightly re shaping to improve the situation, also it could indicate possible infection is present. It would be advisable to get it checked again by your dentist in either case.
