I’ve Been Diagnosed With Bone Loss And The Treatment They Have Given Me Has Had No Effect Over The Last Three Weeks. What Should My Next Step Be?

Q.
I am a 43 years old divorced mother of two and have been diagnosed with bone loss on the upper right and lower right of my face. I am being treated with chlorhexidine gluconate. I have been using this for 3 weeks now and have seen no improvement. I also suffer from graves disease. What should my next step be? The receding gums seem aggressive and this was not being treated at all by my dentist. He did my fillings and then the pains began – since January I’m now being treated by an orthodontist who assured that dentures will not be needed any time soon. Is it time to order veneers as my teeth are also discoloured and ugly. Please help. Your answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello. I would ask for a referral to a specialist periodontist immediately or seek out a second opinion from one yourself. Regarding the cosmetic dentistry questions I would have a consultation (in person) with an experienced cosmetic/restorative dentist in your area. Kind regards, Mark.
