is the damon brace treatment effective

Q. My son is 11 yrs old and has crowded teeth, unaligned jaw – a complex case and has been recommended Damon Braces treatment. I want to find out in the long term, when wisdom teeth start to come out, after Damon treatment, is there any space left for them in the mouth? Also how effectve is the Damon treatment – do teeth start to go back after 10-12 yrs or not?

A. I haven’t ever heard of damon brace treatment. However with normal brace treatment as long as reatiners are placed on teeth the teeth should not move too much.
As we get older the shape of the jaws change and the forces that are put on the teeth during chewing and swallowing cause anterior drifting of the teeth. Movement of teeth has very little to do with the fact that wisdom teeth are present or not. It is a bit of a myth.I would sort out your sons mal alignment now and deal with any future issues if and when they occur. Have you been to see a proper orthodontist. If not then have a consultation so that you can discuss all of your options
Kind Regards
