Is surgery the only option for my overbite

Q. Hi, I am 21 and from Norfolk. I have just been and had a consultation about an over bite i have believing that it was sticky out teeth, turns out that it is not my teeth but my lower jaw 🙁 he said that i would have to have surgery if i wanted it corrected and that braces just wouldnt do much at all. he said that my overbite was 11mm and that the surgery would involve moving my lower jaw forward and probably my upper jaw back slightly. I am sure he said that this is available on nhs. i am now wondering if i heard correctly does this sound correct? Thanks

A. I think I answered this question before- its up to the individual consultant.

I’ve just had upper and lower jaw surgery 2 weeks ago.
It was done on the NHS. i was the opposite way round to you, but i know they do it for both.
So yes – ask your dentist….
