Is it possible to perform treatment on an infected bridged tooth?

Q. Have a small infection in a bridged tooth my dentist has said they will root fill without taking the bridge off. is this possible. sounds strange to me,
A. it is normal to drill through the bridge from the biting surface to access the root canal if the bridge is unlikely to be easily removable. IT does mean that after a successful root treatment should replace the bridge after about a year. Rob
