Is It Fair That My Dentist Can Charge An Extra £300 For Each Crowns Lab Fee?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I have a dental discount plan which covers dental services at a discounted price. I recently had six crowns placed (lower front, 22-27).
Standard price quoted was £1,100 and discounted price was £428.
However my dentist charged me an additional lab fee of £300 for each crown. Is this correct? I heard that crowns include lab fees.
My dentist charged me a “lab fee” in addition to the cost of the crown. I thought the cost of the crown would include lab fees associated with the crown. Any information on this would be very helpful as I currently don’t know where to turn. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. It depend really as each practice can do things differently when it comes to the cost of treatment. The best thing to do if you are unhappy is to get a second opinion elsewhere and see if you can get better value from an experienced cosmetic dentist local to you. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
