Is composite bonding a good alternative to brace treatment?
Q.
Hello, I have just come back from a consultation about having a brace and the orthodontist advised me that he didn’t think this would be the best option as I had 2 teeth removed as a teenager and the only way to create more space would be to remove more. Instead he has recommended that my teeth are re-shaped and that he will use composite (something like that but not porcelain) to make them appear aligned. I had always thought that a brace would be the best option, but does this sound like a good solution? Thanks

Without being able to assess your situation and your aesthetic needs in person it’s impossible for me to accurately answer your question. Composite bonding to reshape teeth can be a very good option and can also be very conservative of tooth structure in most cases. My advice if you are concerned about the treatment proposed would be to seek out a second opinion from another orthodontist or a cosmetic dentist who is experienced in orthodontics
