Is braces a good solution for underbite?

Q. My Daughter is 12 years old with an underbite, her dentist recommends braces, what would be type would be the better solution?

A. Probably a combination of functional appliances and fixed braces. It will depend on the cause of the over bite. If it partly due to skeletal shape then the functional applianceas are worn to correct this. The lower jaw is postured forward with the brace. After this the fixed braces are used to move the teeth back into an ideal position.

My teeth are extremely crocked. Also, My dog teeth grow out the top of my gums, which makes it look like I have vampire teeth. I have been in secure about my teeth for years . I have not been to the dentist in years, but I was told that I needed braces for about 3 years. I wanted know, other than braces, what other procedures could be done to get my teeth straight in a short manner of time. I’m really interested in dental cosmetic surgery. Is that an option for me and is it expensive? Can it be made affordable

How much is a standard braces- basically a multi-functional type to push back, close gaps and all that type of stuff? nothing to elaborate in design, standard train track to be honest. preferably stainless steel/metal. im 21 so no colourful braces. i have summoned courage to give it a go now rather than later knowing that time waits for no one. so pls kindly advice me on the cost and any other additional information that would deem helpful thank you

Hi Prices of braces really depend on complexity of case and duration. Costs start from £1500.

Hi I use to play clarinet but half way through the year i switched to playing the trumpet after much convincing of the music instructor. I practiced so hard to get good at it but then i got my braces put on, and now i just sound rubbish and i cant play either. Please help me because music is my life and I don’t know what I’d do if i couldn’t play. I’ve had my braces on for 3 weeks now so still got ages to wait til they come off.

Hi You should find that you adapt to the trumpet playing very soon with practising. I would also speak with your music instructor as I am sure they will have some lip and tongue exercises to help you adapt to the braces. Good luck

Hi This could reduce the cost for braces, it depends on the complexity of the crookedness, your bite, if other teeth have to move to make space for the straightening and what type of brace you choose. I’d advise a consultation and your dentist will be able to advise the best treatment, approximate time frames and costs. Good luck
