Is £2000 too much for the treatment of mild orthodontic problems with Invisalign?

Q.
Hello. I had a fixed metal brace on both bottom and top when I was 15, I had it on for 3 years. And I was very silly, and I didn’t keep up with wearing my retainer. this past year, my front tooth has started slipping back into an old position, it’s my right front tooth, it’s pushing so much aginst the front left tooth it’s causing pain and discomfort when eating, the tooth that is pushing on the other tooth has made it very wobbly, I can tell it’s moving at a drastic speed as theres a difference each week, this one tooth that has moved is starting to cause so much problems, its now looking like I have 2 wonky front teeth and I’m so upset about it. I know this is my own silly fault, but I really want to fix this.

I went for an appointment to see about having invasigln ( sp? ) done, he said to me it was a very mild case and would only cost me 2000 and the procedure would probably only take 7 weeks… so I was shocked at the price and with him saying it was barely noticable, I don’t know if he was trying to con me or not, I’m not sure but that seemed a lot of money to me.

I just want the best advice on what would be best for me, and some actual pricelists, I know you can’t give me an exact price but a rough idea would be great. I’m a single Mum and it’s something I feel needs to be done, it’s knocked my confidence a lot, and I’m willing to pay out if it’s not a silly ammount.

Kind regards, thanks for taking time to look at this and I hope you reply.

Hi

If your treatment is very simple then a few aligners only may be needed and so you could have something like Simpli5 or maybe an Inman aligner. These treatments are generally less than £2000 but usually more than a £1000. Invisalign is usually better for more extensive treatment then these two products and it is expensive as the manufacturing costs charged to the dentists by Invisalign are very high. To be honest, £2000 is very cheap for Invisalign.

It’s best you come for a consultation so we can assess and quote you properly

Kind regards

Mark

Hello and Thank you for your reply.

He did mention Inman aligner and said it would be cheaper but they did not do this treatment. Do you know anywhere near Huddersfield that does this?

Are all these proceduresdone private, or do the NHS offer these?

He did say that was a good price as usually he starts from £3,500 but because it was so mild he could do this cheaper and the time it would be on would be very little. He also offered a plan where I could pay it over 3years. So I suppose it was a very good deal. But I was just curious to if there was cheaper options with still good results.

The other 2 options you have mentioned seem more for me I think. It’s just a matter of finding a practise that will do it and if you could send me in the right direction Id greatly appreciate it.

Id love to come for a consultation but am I correct in thinking you are based in London? As that is abit too far for me to travel.

Thanks again for your response it is very much appreciated 🙂

Kind regards

Michaela

Hello, I am interested in straightening my top and bottom teeth. Having had a consultation today I was recommended the Inman Aligner and quoted £3,500 for top and bottom set of teeth. Having looked at the Internet I have seen suggested prices to be from £2k-£3k. Have I been over charged? Also I start a new job soon and am worried that my speech may be affected. I was told I may have difficulty in pronouncing ‘th’ ‘sh’ words. Will people be able to understand? Should I push back on price or look elsewhere?

The prices you have been quoted is within the norm. Your speech will be temporarily be affected and it may take a few weeks until the speech improves.

The Inman works well on the right cases. Invisalign is a great way of sorting out most peoples problems and its the most discreet brace available.
