invisable braces or dental veneers for wonky teeth

Q. Hello, i had braces on about 5 years ago but had my retainer took off me , my 4 front teeth (top set)are wonky and nearly all my bottom set, if i had braces again i would want them to be invisable so people cant tell ive got them on, but ive also seen veneers what do you suggest, invisable braces or veneers Thankyou

A. There are pros and cons of both of your suggested treatments:

The pros of braces are that there is no need for any permanent work ie recontouring of your existing teeth as would be the case with veneers, to prevent any further movement in the future you should ask for a permanently fixed retainer.

The disadvantage of braces is the length of time of treatment and having to wear the braces – invisible braces usually do not give as good a result as conventional braces.

The pros of veneers are that it is a quick treatment  (as little as 4 weeks) and the shape and colour of the teeth is corrected, the cons of veneers are that some tooth reduction is necessary and the treatment will need to be replaced after approx 15 yrs.

You would need to weigh up the pros and cons of both treatments and work out which is most suitable for you.
