Im suffering from gum disease can u suggest me what to do?

Q. I am a problem with gum disease. my dentist recommends that i have one denture put in but i cannot get my head around it. I need to know if i can have anything else done to this one cap that i have in at the moment. please advise.

A. It might be possible to place a fixed tooth either with a bridge or an implant. You would need an accurate assessment first to see if you are a suitable candidate for this type of advanced treatment, especially if some of the other teeth require treatment to improve the condition of the gums.

Are teeth strong enough to hold braces after gum disease is completed?.

It would depend on how much boneloss there is. If the teeth feel loose and have mobility braces might not be a good option. I recommend you consult with and Orthodontist and a Periodontist

Hi my teeth are in a bad state at the moment due to not looking after them. This is now causing me to have less confidence in myself i won’t smile round friends and constantly find myself noticing how much better most peoples look than mine. I’m currently out of work and cant afford veneers how do i go about getting my smile back ? i have let the problem get the better of me whilst i have been depressed to the point that i am asking online websites for help

Cosmetic dentistry is expensive so it would be worth waiting to save enough to have good quality treatment to improve your smile

Hi, I was just recently diagnosed with gum disease, because of my smoking. The doctor said she couldn’t clean my teeth, I recieved a scaling instead, and I was left with thick tarter on my on my bottam teeth. How am I going to get my teeth cleaned and this tarter removed, if no one will clean my teeth because of gum diesese. it has affected my confidence, and I’m really upset. Is there a way to get this tarter off?

Not really sure what you mean but you should seek a second opinion if you have been left without treatment.

I have gum disease and my dentist told me today that I will always have it and my teeth will eventually fall out . I’ve always been proud of my teeth as they are really pretty . The thought of losing them is really depressing , is my dentist right ? Or can I get rid of the gum disease ? What can I do ?

Gum disease is very treatable but they are right, you don’t cure it, you only stabilise it. I would ask for a referral to someone who can help you further as if your dentist believes that you are a hopeless cause, it could become a self fulfilling prophecy i.e. they don’t treat you the way you need and then your teeth may fall out. I would ask for a referral.

I just had a question about how diet affects gum disease? If you don’t have a very good diet would this make me considerably more susceptible to gum problems? My diet isn’t lacking too much really but I have just moved out of my parents house and my diet has gone a little less varied. I’ve started drinking 0% sugar 7up and was wondering if it is 0% does this mean it will not harm my gums?

Alicia Says :

The lack of sugar will help reduce the chance of getting tooth decay. Regarding gum disease, there is some evidence that high sugar diets promote inflammation and diets in Vitamin C also reduce your ability to maintain a healthy immune system. The key is all things in moderation.
