I’m About To Lose Two Teeth. I Would Like Some Information On The Options Available To Me. What Can I Have Done?

Q.
Hi Mark. I have got a false tooth glued to my natural tooth and now this is falling out so I will loose 2 teeth right at the front on the top row. What options do would I have to fix this. I do not want a pallet, I have one sturdy tooth left at the side of the one that which is coming out and the other side is bridged. I have private care and I am going tomorrow but I would like some expert advice so I can at least ask the dentist on what choices I have. I am 51 years old and I have looked after my teeth but I have got receding gums. I think this is where the problem lies, I am a smoker and this is probably one of the biggest causes of my problems. Thank you.
A.
To replace teeth you have the following groups of options:

1. Something removable – what we call dentures or ‘removable bridges’ and what you refer to as a ‘palate’.
2. Bridges – there are several types and designs
3. Dental implants.  So to avoid a denture you will need option 2 or 3. To know which one would be best and which would be most fit for purpose, I would require a thorough examination and X-rays and maybe even a CT scan, 3-d X-ray to assess the bone you have (for dental implants).  Please let me know if I can be of further assistance once you have seen the dentist but he/she should at least discuss all these options and variations thereof. You may want to browse this websites various treatment pages for further information on these types of treatment. Kind regards, Mark.
