If I Remove My Teeth, Will My Overcrowded Teeth Move And Straighten To Fill The Gaps?

Q.
Hi Andrew, my teeth are overcrowded. I was just wondering if I remove some of my teeth if the other teeth will move to fill the gaps? My wisdom teeth haven’t come through yet but I have been told they will impact. Should I just wait until these come and remove more teeth at once? I have been experiencing TMJ. I’m not sure if this has something to do with it. The oral surgeon thinks stress caused it although he is unsure. Will removing the teeth make this situation worse? I look forward to your advice regarding this matter. Thank you.

Hello. Removing teeth won’t miraculously make them straighter. You’ll need a brace as well to do this as the teeth need a certain amount of pressure to be moved into place. I can’t tell about your wisdom tooth without seeing an X-ray. Is the TMJ caused by grinding? If so, you may want to talk to your dentist about fitting a night guard. I hope this helps.
