If I Invested In Implant Supported Dentures Could I Still Play My Saxophone?

Q.
Hi Dr Patel, I just wondered if you could advise me on something? It looks like my lower teeth cannot be saved. The uppers have already been gone for 4 years, and a recent bout with chemotherapy has advanced the decay in my lowers. The only thing I could possibly afford would be mini-implant supported removable dentures. The upper dentures have already ruined my career as a saxophone player — do you think the solution will allow me to play? When done properly, it shouldn’t put any more pressure on the teeth than chewing nuts, for instance? Can you please advise me, I don’t want my career to be in ruins too, I’m not sure what route to turn down. Thanks in advance.

Hi, sorry to hear about your situation and thanks for your question. Mini implants are not the same as real implants, so please remember this.  However, real implants or full implants can make a secure denture and help you get that seal when you play. I hope this helps. Regards.
