I wear an upper denture at the moment and aged 31

Q. Hi there I wear an upper denture at the moment, and aged 31 this isnt ideal. I have looked into dental implants before but have been advised twice now that I have so little bone underneath the gum that I will need bone grafts taken from my hip. Im not too sure that I want bone taken from anywhere else and also the £40k price tag will also be an issue for me. I am at the stage now where I am not even leaving the house, and when Im taking the children to school, I dont even step out of the car. I am on anti-depressants longterm due to this also. It is significantly affecting my life and I’m investigating every area of hope at the moment. I already can feel how loose my denture has become recently and know I am on borrowed time with those, so really am desperate. Any advice you could give me would be fantastic. Many thanks x

A. Given the situation it may be worth contacting your local dental hospital as your treatment may well be able to be carried out as part of their teaching programme.

The clinical situation sounds very complex and your local dentist may be able to refer you an NHS consultant to reduce the costs involved.
