I recently got a new bridge and I am in extreme pain, what should I do?

Q.
I recently had a replacement bridge. I still have the temp bridge and am awaitng the permanent bridge. I am in great pain. I returned to the dentist to have him check the temp. he said the pain was due to the inproper fit of the temp and would go away when the perm. bridge is cemented in place. Is this true? I am dying here, living off of ibupropen/tylenol. Thanks
A.
It might be something else if you’re in such extreme pain. Go back and get it checked again

I’m so relieved it’s not just me. I had extreme discomfort with the temporary one, and just wanted it to be ripped out to relieve the pressure. I went to another dentist the day before I went for the permanent one, saying I had lost all confidence in my dentist. He said to be patient just one more day, and then give the permanent one three or four days by which time all should be well. I had gone to my dentist before this saying that one of the caps had come out within an hour, that there seemed to be a lot of cement in between and around the caps not wiped off. She just ignored my point about wiping off the excess (I know she was being told she was half an hour behind schedule), and just offered to “polish”, and replace the missing cap. I declined, saying I just wanted to have the awful pressure off my mouth. Well, when she came to remove the temp it wouldn’t come out so I had to spend another half hour being machined. She lay the bridge proper in to test my bite; it wasn’t right so the technician had to work on it while I waited in the waiting room feeling suicidal about where my vanity had got me, feeling my little stumps with my tongue. She was about to cement the cursed thing in when. I asked if it could be done with temp cement. ‘yes, okay’. Because if anything is wrong and it has to come out, it, too, would have to be drilled out? ‘yes’, she agreed. That was Thursday; it’s now Sunday. There are two problems: the awful pressure, discomfort bordering on pain, and the strange, awful feeling on the tongue like you’d have if you worked chewing gum behind your teeth — there is simply no natural feeling, no normal teeth ridges. I cannot turn back time, but I feel I would rather have my ground-down teeth for all their ugliness than put up with this. Can they not put four individual caps on so you have the feel of separate teeth, not some medieval plate so you can get air and water through the gaps? I will go anywhere, pay anything for this nightmare to end. I’m due to go in on Thursday to replace the temp glue with permanent. No way! People with dentures use a bonding themselves. Why did she ram this thing so bloody hard? Is it that that is causing the pain? Please help.

I am looking to have 6 of my bottom teeth extracted and having a bridge made to take their place, my dentist of 20 years has told me it would cost £5000. Is this reasonable? It seems like a lot of money to me but I do trust him, just looking for someones opinion.
