I have gum loss, could this be from an accident or is it gum disease?

hello, i went to america last june and fell off my skateboard! chipped a tooth on the top jaw, and i think damaged the gum on the lower jaw, how can i tell if the gum loss is from the impact? i cant get a dental appointment till next week so ive looked online, when ive search gum loss it comes up with gum disease? bit worried! help!

You will only be able to tell if a dentist examines you – they may need to take an Xray to check your tooth is not fractured on its root
