I Have Dental Fluorosis And Want To Know If I Am Eligible For Veneers Through The NHS.

Q.
Hello Dr Shaffie, I have fluorosis so my teeth are patchy with white marks and some are a brown, yellow colour. When I was younger I was told that by the time I was 16 years old, I could get free help on the NHS but there has been no help to improve my teeth. Would I be a able to get veneers off the NHS as I can’t afford the whole amount to be done privately? It’s really making an impact on my social life and it’s about time I got help as I feel like I’ve suffered for long enough. Kind regards, any advice on this matter would be greatly received, I really hope you can help.

Hello and thanks for your question. As long as it’s not for cosmetic reasons and the treatment is of a preventative nature, the NHS should provide you with the Veneers. You need to speak to your dentist directly and see what they suggest and try to find a dentist who has some background in this type of treatment. I hope you are able to fix these problems.
