I have a triangle between my front teeth

Q. Hi there, I have suffered from gum disease which has left a space between my two front bottom teeth (where my gum used to be) in the shape of a triangle. Is there anything that can be done to close the triangle or reduce the size? Would veneers help?

A. There isn’t anything that can be done easily to bring back the gum. There are surgical procedures available however they are not alwys possible in people that have gum disease. Do you still have gum disease? This is definately something you should find out before any other treatment is carried out. Veneers are definately a possibility and would close the gap if they are carried out properly. You need to go to a private dentist that is used to carrying out these prcedures. Ask to see a portfolio of before and after caese that the dentist has carried out. You should also make sure that you go for 3 month hygiene visits. Once a person has had gum disease it is very easy for it to begin again because spaces have been created underneathe the gum that will be impossible for you clean and the bacteria biofilm re-establishes itself after 3 months. If the gum disease returns and you have had veneers the black triangle could reappear.
Kind regards
