I have a small gap between my two front teeth. Are there any side effects in future if I go for bonding my teeth?

I have small gap between my two front teeth and I feel very shy to smile. It is very embarrassing to laugh heart-fully. I would like to fix the gap in short period of time. is there any side effect in future if I go for bonding my teeth?
