I Have A Hard Time Opening Up My Mouth To Smile As I Have An Overbite. What Can I Do To Fix?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. I’ve always been annoyed by my smile. Sometimes I have hard time opening my mouth to smile because I have two front teeth that stick out in addition to having a gap in between them. What can I do?
My teeth on the lower jaw are also yellowish and some small holes have started appearing. But this doesn’t annoy me as much as having a large gap in my teeth. I am now 20 years old and my parents didn’t care much about that so that’s why they didn’t find me braces. I am really eager to know what doctors recommend for me. I wish to have a beautiful smile and so be confident.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. Please go and see a cosmetic dentist of high experience and reputation to find out the options that would suit you best. The usual treatments for the dental issues you raised are teeth whitening, orthodontics such as Invisalign and possibly cosmetic bonding. I would need to see you in person to determine the best course of action. You can find further information on these treatments through this website. Regards, Mark.
