I had my tooth surface polished but it still feels rough, why is this?

Q. I don’t know how I did it but the inside surface of one of my front teeth feels really rough and I went to have it polished at my dentist to make it smooth. However, it hasn’t sorted the problem and the tooth surface is still rough and uncomfortable. Why isn’t the polishing solving the problem and what other things can be done to make the tooth surface smooth again?,
A. I don’ really know why, ask the dentist who polished it perhaps it needs filling rather than smoothing
