I had crown fitted and I m unhappy with appearance of the tooth Plz advice

Q. I have recently had a crown fitted to repair a lower molar tooth. I asked for a ceramic crown. The front of the tooth looks good but the back of the tooth appears very black along the lower edge. I had the crown fitted two weeks ago. I am unhappy with the appearance of the tooth. I £400 for the crown. Is this usual? Many thanks.

A. Hi

Thanks for your message, if you are unhappy with the treatment you have received, I would always recommend that you return to the dentist who has carried out the treatment to inform them. I am sure that if you explain your concerns, the dentist will be able to either advise you of why this is and reassure you, or make arrangements for the crown to be replaced. It is possible that the crown you have had fitted may be metal based for strength. However without seeing it, it is ipossible to say for sure. I hope that this will be of some assistance to you.
