I Had Braces Treatment When I Was Young, But Threw Away My Retainers. Please Suggest To Me What I Should Do?

Q.
Dear Dr Hughes. I am 20 years old. I got my orthodontics treatment done when I was in 13 years old. After my treatment my dentist gave me retainers. But I was young and immature and I threw away my retainers as it was difficult to speak while wearing them. But now, last year I noticed that my right side of mandible was a little bulkier than the left one. I got the X-rays all done and got to know that my mandible deviates from one side. As a temporary thing I had a fat transplant procedure. But I feel the fat is going away. Please suggest to me what I should do? I want the permanent treatment for the lifetime. Thanks.

Hello and welcome. I would advise that you see a specialist orthodontist as soon as possible to have a thorough examination and all your treatment options explained. It’s difficult for me to suggest treatment without seeing you in person for a consultation. I hope this helps you for the time being. Best wishes, Mark.
