I Don’t Want To Have More Teeth Taken Out And Braces Treatment. Is There Another Way To Fix My Buck Teeth?

Q.
Hello Dr Gambroudes. I used to have what I would call vampire teeth. After getting braces, my “vampire” smile turned into buck teeth. I had two upper teeth removed to make more room and continued to wear braces for two years but the buck teeth never disappeared. And they are really bad buck teeth and it’s started to affect my speech. Is there another option to fix buck teeth without having to go back to braces? The orthodontist I went to when I had my braces said I would have to get more upper teeth removed if I wanted to continue with braces and I really don’t want that.

Thanks for getting in touch. It’s very difficult for me to comment on your case specifically without seeing you, however I would always suggest getting another opinion or even several. If you discuss your concerns with your regular dentist they should be able to suggest various specialists in your area that might be able to help. Get as much information as you can and ask as many questions as you can to enable you to make an informed decision on the best options available to you. It may be that braces are the only route available, but there may be an option to wear clear aligners such as Invisalign, so you wouldn’t have to wear fixed braces. I really hope this helps and good luck. Kind regards, Dr Marcus Gambroudes.
