I am in a lot of pain after having my wisdom teeth removed, what can I do?

Q.
I had my two wisdom teeth removed on 09.02. and ever since the pain was so bad that I went to see my dentist 6 days later. I was prescribed antibiotics and antibacterial medication, however the pain continued. On the 8th day I went again and the doctor cleaned the socket and put some medication in. I felt relieved for the rest of the day and slept well during the night but on the next day the pain continued. Honestly the pain is not as severe as it was but still when I lay down it increases and I could not go to sleep. I feel like a walking zombie, never being so miserable. The other thing that concerns me is that my lobe is somehow stiff. After the surgery I felt it was numb but I thought it was from the anastetics. Now when the pain comes, it spreads up to the same lob. This morning I also had a strange feeling going down my neck. I feel horrible and panicking a lot. My doctor ensured me that the condition is improving but I can’t bear it anymore. My doctor told me that it could take up to 3-4 weeks to heal due to the infection. Is everything that I described normal? Is it normal the pain to appear every tiem I put my head down? Please, help me what to do?
A.
Pain after lower wisdom tooth removal is common and can be severe. The cause is due to poor blood supply in the area of wisdom teeth which makes the extraction socket prone to a localised bone infection. I am sure this is what has happened to you and your doctor is treating you in the correct way. Keep using hot salt mouth washes and a hot water bottle on your face( do not burn yourself) . It is a case of time is a healer but you may need a second dressing in your socket.
