How often do titanium posts break?

Q. About 2 years ago, I had a crown on one of my front tooth. It had a titanium post as a part of the buildup. About a year after, I noticed that the tooth was getting loose. I complained to the doctor and was told that it looked like the root was getting loose. …about a month ago the tooth had broken. Upon an examination, it was determined that the root was fine, but the titanium post was broken. My question is: assuming titanium posts a very durable, how often do they break, if ever. Thank You, Mark,
A. It is rare but they can break
