How long should a dental crown last for?

Q.
Hi, my partner had a porcelain crown fited two years to a tooth in the lower jaw at the rear. The crown has come off and is damaged. Her current dentist said the crown needs to be replaced and as itis quite slim two years is about all it will last if replaced again in porcelain. He advised her to consider replacing the crown with either gold or silver which she is hesitant to do. Should a crown last longer than two years when when I was told by my own dentist that my crowns should last at least ten years.

If the bite is very close then porcelain doesn’t last as long as gold. Perhaps she should try this option or get a 2nd opinion
