Has my root canal treatment failed?

Q.
I had a root canal filing end of February/early March. The tooth has remained troublesome and is intermittently painful to bite on which appears to be worsening and also painful after eating certain foods. I can also feel a sense of discomfort on touching the tooth when brushing my teeth and also there is a certain degree of facial pain/ache although no visible swelling.. Do I assume that the root canal has failed and if so what would be the next treatment required. Alternatively, is this just something that will settle down?

I would suggest you go back to your Dentist. It does sounds like the RCt has failed and you might be looking at having the tooth removed. Good luck

Is an extraction easier to do on a failed root canal tooth?

No it is normally more difficult as the root is usually brittle.
