Good Afternoon. Do You Have Any Particular Toothpaste Recommendations For Gingivitis?

Q.
Good afternoon. Which toothpaste do you recommend to be best for hygiene and freshness?
Would you recommend an antibiotic for gingivitis?
Shall I ask my GP to prescribe me a particular product?
I am considering teeth whitening.
My only concerns before I make an appointment are:
How long will it last?
Do I have to purchase expensive products to maintain it?

Sorry, I am just trying to decide if it’s worth it.

Kind Regards.

A.
Hello. Thanks for getting in touch. If you have gingivitis then it is important that you have this treated, avoiding treatment can have potentially serious health consequences. Gingivitis is a very common condition and is easily treated. Usually I would recommend a visit to see a hygienist, who would carefully clean all your teeth and more importantly show you how to care for your teeth and gums in long term. With regards to choosing a toothpaste, there is no one particular brand that is best, as long as your brushing regime is good they will all do the job.

Once your gums are in good condition, tooth whitening is an excellent treatment to give your teeth a nice lift. Most whitening systems are now very effect and deliver consistently good results, but you must be aware that keeping them white will require a little maintenance. This is relatively inexpensive and will involve purchasing extra whitening solution from your dentist every 6 months or so. I hope this answers your question and good luck with the whitening if you decide to proceed with it. Regards Dr Marcus Gambroudes.
