Front teeth stick out and look very bad need treatment

Q. Dear Mr Bohara, When i was around 15 i was referred to a orthodontist, I cancelled the appointment and didn’t continue with my treatment. Two of front teeth stick out like ”vampire teeth”. I was just wondering how much it would cost me to have braces and how long do you think i would have to keep them on for!

A. Hi

You would require a consultation initially to see what your treatment options would be. The cost would be depndable on the type of sytem you wish i.e damon, invislalign, six months smiles, etc
The cost could vary from £2000 to £4000 dependable on the system and complexity. The time required for the treatment would be dependable on the complexity.

It sounds like you could need orthodontics to bring your front teeth back in and stop them sticking out.

Good morning, I would like to make an enquiry on behalf of my husband. He is registered to the NHS dentist surgery and due to problemswith a narrow top jaw has been offered via the NHS a series of 24 appointments to straighten his teeth and re E28093 set his jaw however this is along process and will involve a long time in braises and retainers ongoing. He has decided after 3 years on the waiting list he would like to considerprivate treatment and to look at getting a top set of porcelain vaneers orother alternatives to the lengthy treatment offered via the NHS. Please could you email me back and let me know if you think you can help and if youmay be able to provide a consultation appointment for him so you can have alook at his teeth and discuss his options. He is very keen to get startedsoon and I would also like to come along with him. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi, i am currently undergoing orthodontic treatment and am losing confidence in my orthodontist with how my treatment is going. I would like to get a2nd opinion on my orthodontic treatment and take the opportunity of your free consultation to go through the areas which i think are not being coveredand to move onto another orthodontist which may be yourself to finish offand end my treatment fully. If you are able to offer me advice and take a look at my orthodontics by way of me attending your practice, i would kindlylike to do so

I am interested in your range of orthodontictreatments. I would like both top and bottom straightening treatment and had recently signed up for simply 5 treatment after being told that I was suitable for both top and bottom sets. Unfortunately my dentist has now toldme that that was an incorrect analysis and that only my top set are acceptable. Rather than wasting time and money visiting 2 separate establishmentsI noticed that you have a wide variety of alternative orthodontics available and would like to book in as quickly as possible for a consultation. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks

Hello doctor, I have saved up my pennies and am looking into getting some brace work for my teeth. I am a 32 year old women in good oral health which is let down by my less than aesthetically pleasing teeth. A general over view of my teeth show a overbite, plus crowding, plus twisted teeth. It’s all a little bit of a mess to be honest and I would really like some expert advice to help me choose the right treatment for me. Being a 32 year old women in need of braces I would obviously like a set of invisble or at least discreet braces, so I don’t have the appearance of a 13 year old girl doing a powerpoint presentation and my toss up was between invisalign and lingual braces. what would be your suggestion doctor, i would class my orthodontic problems as heading towards severe. thank you for your time.

Jaylyn Says :

If your malocclusion is more severe as you suggest than some form of Traditional Orthodontic treatment would be recommended. Consult with 2 different orthodontists to find your bets option.

Hello Doctor, I am looking to getting my daughter Invisalign as her two front teeth are crossed over and she has a few gaps at the side. I have also heard of invisalign teen and wonder if this would be the better treatment option for her? How does it differ from usual Invisalign? She is 13 years of age, has all of here adult teeth and is in good oral health. Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

My teeth are straight apart from my two canine teeth which slant inwards. What kind of treatment would you suggest to straighten them out? I don’t really want to have to pay for expensive braces and have them for a long time to just fix two teeth.

July 7th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Dominic Says :

it is very difficult to say what is the best treatment for you as it depends on the severity of the problem. The options to straighten teeth are Invisalign, Six Month Braces, Lingual Braces or Damon braces, but I would recommend a consultation to find out which is the best option for you.

I had braces a few years ago, but 2 of my upper my teeth are moving back, i want to make those straight again – how much would invisalign cost for a minor prolem like this? Also, my teeth go upwards. is there anyway the my upper teeth (on the sides of the front teeth) could be brought lower down? so that my front teeth dont look so promininent? If yes, what are the estimated cost for each of these procedures? or could this all e achieved in on treatment? thanks 🙂

My teeth are okay, however on one side of my mouth, I have a tooth that overlaps another. It sticks out and although you can’t see it very well, its noticeable when I smile/laugh. It isn’t uncomfortable but I would love to get it either removed (as there is a tooth directly behind it so there would be no gap). There is also the same tooth on the other side that is slightly overlapping a tooth but it no where near as bad as the other side. If you know any other solutions that could be taken please let me know!

I would recommend you go and see your dentist so that your teeth can be assessed and make sure that there is no damage to your teeth. I would also recommend you show your dentist your fractured aligner and see if it possible to move onto the next one. Best Wishes

hello what can’t you treat with invisalign? I have one of those overbites, where my teeth just seem to be sticking out massively from top jaw and it just makes me look really, really goofy! I would like to do something about it and soon, but obviously if i could get invisible treatment like invisalign that would be much much better. Do you think i will be suitable for the treatment? thank you

Invisalign can correct teeth position not jaw position, it sounds like you may have jaw position problem in which case tooth extractions or jaw surgery may be required to get the best result.

Alicia Says :

I am a 26 years old woman from Kolkata, and have been suggested braces to correct my bite by a well known orthodontist ( I have lower jaw crowding he says). He says that 4 teeth extractions will be required. I have sough the advice of another dentist, she had the same opinion as him. Could you honestly advice me_ will these extractions cause a SUNKEN in face, or TMJ or Sleep Apnea, or any other “unforeseen consequences”. I want to have well aligned teeth, but do not want any extractions. Especially due to such fears of a sunken in face. Please advice. At my wits end. Thank You!!!

September 12th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Aubree Says :

An orthodontist is the best person to advise you on whether teeth need to be extracted prior to braces being fitted. Do go back to your orthodontist and ask the orthodontist why he/she has suggested you need extractions.

Hi, It is important that you continue to wear your aligners(if possible) to prevent any uncontrolled tooth movements. Throughout Invisalign treatment it is crucial that aligners are worn for 20-22 hours per day in order to achieve the results. Arrange to see your dentist as soon as possible. Best wishes

Does lingual braces work with goofy teeth that stick right out the front of your mouth? This is my key problem and I want this to be sorted once and for all. I’ve lived with it for 30 years and had enough. I’m looking at braces options as that seems the best course of action. Would lingual braces be okay? I’d rather them than the normal ones if its all the same. If you could tell me about any others if they are better then that would be good.

December 16th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Isis Says :

Hi it would depend on what time of lingual brace is offered to you and it would depend on the severity if the problem. I really like using the Damon braces for “goofy” teeth as they work really well.

January 12th, 2012 at 08:47 PM

it depends on the overbite/overjet. if it is too severe you may want to consider lingual braces or damon clear braces

I went to see an orthodontist a few months ago about Invisalign braces and he told me I have a large tongue which causes me to tongue-thrust and pushes my top teeth out. He recommended I get my bottom four teeth bonded to create the illusion that I have straighter teeth (I had braces when I was 16 but my bottom teeth have moved again due to wisdom teeth) but I think I would benefit from braces. I’d really appreciate your opinion. Kind Regards,

If it was trauma to invidual teeth Orthodontics might be too stressfull if the roots are already damaged. If your whole jaw is out of alignment it would need to be assessed before proceeding. An initial chat is free to see whether it is worth proceeding to full assesment and costed treatment plan.

Toby Says :

Hi, for most people we treat both upper and lower teeth at the same time. This is for two reasons – 1. The teeth meet in the bite and changing the position of teeth in just one jaw will affect the bite 2. If you just treat one jaw before the other this drags the treatment time out and they are very comfortable to wear both at once. Regards

If I have had an extraction of a corner tooth can I still wear invisalign. I am seriously considering this type of braces and this is the only concern that I have. I am also 34 years old so a bit late in my life for this which is why I would prefer invisalign. I have healthy gums and no major problems with my teeth other than them being crooked. I have tried to get braces before but through the army but was told that my teeth don’t cause any medical problems so I do not require braces which was fair as this is just for cosmetic purpose and a confidence boost

I’m not sure what you mean by a corner tooth but the best thing for you to do is to come for a consultation so your questions can be answered correctly. If your mouth is healthy and your alignment is not too complex then Invisalign may be a good option for you

My son is 33 years old and just now has a 3rd eye tooth breaking through his gums directly behind his top 2 front teeth. He said a dentist told him it was there a few years ago during a check-up when x-rays were taken. It has not given him any issues until now because it is breaking through the gums behind the front teeth. How unusual is this to happen as an adult? Any time I took him to the dentist as a child, I was not told anything about the 3rd top eye tooth behind his front teeth. His teeth were nice and straight with no problems as a child. This has become very irritating for him. I assume he would need to have it extracted and how difficult is it to do? Is this a very uncommon occurrence?

September 26th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Brayden Says :

Its easy to remove in most cases so it shouldn’t cause problems, they are often hard to detect as a child unless they show up by chance on an x-ray
