Does inhalation sedation wear off quicker than IV sedation?

Q.
Could you please advise me on the following problem; I normally get sedated (intravenous with valium) for my dental treatments as I have a choking phobia, anxiety, strong gag reflex and very sensitive teeth, but now I have no-one who can go with me as my friend who usually takes me is currently housebound. There is no-one else who can take me. I have mild toothache now, are there any other methods of sedation or similar that would enable me to get treatment but without the need for someone to accompany me? Is it possible to be sedated at a dental hospital (I live in Glasgow) and stay in a waiting room for a few hours until the effects of intravenous sedation wear off? Would inhalation sedation be an option? Does it make you as drowsy as intravenous sedation or would I still be fully conscious with inhalation sedation? Please help, Thanks
A.
It might be possible however the effects of IV sedation can take 24 hours to wear off so you should really have someone with you for that time.
Inhalation sedation does wear off more quickly though so it might be worth contacting the University teaching clinic to see if they could help
