Do you think my son should have his chipped tooth crowned?

my 12yr old son had an accident, and had his front tooth knocked out. He’s had root canal work done but I think it needs crowning as it chipped. His dentist has said that will be a waist of time because when he’s older he will have an implant. Do you think he should crown it?

If the root canal treatment was successful, than a crown would work well over the tooth. Implant is only neccesary if you had the tooth removed and root canal treatment was unsuccessful.
