Do i go back to the dentist or wait?

Q.
Hi, I have been in agony with toothache since last Thursday.  I went to my dentist and was diagnosed with an infection under a crowned tooth and gave me a course of antibiotics to get rid off it. He saw me again 5 days later and drilled through the crown to release the tension caused by the infection and drilled some infection out. He then injected antibiotic into the tooth and put in a temporary filling, until i can receive further treatment. However I have to wait another 2 weeks before he can carry out root canal treatment but I’m in agony but dont know whether i should I go back to see him or persevere. i am trying every painkiller and nothing is helping. What do you suggested. Thanks
A.
It sounds like the tooth might need to be drained again…I would advise you see a root canal specialist as soon as possible (an endodontist) or alternatively the tooth could be removed. Maybe a double dose or additional type of antibiotic would help. The best advice is to see your dentist immediately for an assesment of the issue and some urgent treatment
