dental implant or bridge for root resorption

Q. I had 6 front upper teeth crowned (#6-110. #6 WAS needed following root canal. The others 5 were cosmetic. Tooth #8 was fine on xrays at the time of crowning. 3 months later the xray showed circular shadow about 1/4 wau into the side of tooth. 1 month later it is now at 3/4 through tooth. I’ve been adviced this is autoimmune process with the body reabsorbing the tooth after crowning. They say extraction and inplant. This tooth was fine 3 months ago before the crown. What happened? Is there any other option? I’m sad I decided to have it crowned. Thank you.

A. Root resorption is an uncommon process.  It does sound as though your opton is to have an implant or possibly a bridge – an Implant is usually the best option
