Q.
I have a cracked tooth and my dentist plans to fit a gold crown over it because it is a back tooth and this will be the strongest sort of crown. The nerve seems to be healthy so I have not had root canal treatment. However, the tooth does seem to hurt when pressured and I presume this is because the cracked tooth reacts to pressure. Could the crack be repaired so that it doesn’t move when under pressure or must it rely simply on the tooth being held together by the strong crown?
