I’m 16 Years Old, Would This Be Too Young To Get A Dental Implant?

Monday, September 29th, 2014
Q.

Hello. My front tooth is crooked. It came out twisted just about 180 degrees turned. I have got braces on and was told that the root was a claw shape and it was risky to turn it. The orthodontist said that they were instead, going to have a crown put on it.
After some research on what a crown is a few months later, I have decided that I don’t want my tooth to be ground down. I have called my orthodontist to ask about changing the procedure. They set up a meeting in 20 days to talk to them about the procedure.

The other front tooth is healthy and I would much rather have a real front tooth than a crown. The front tooth is the first part people see of your smile and I don’t want issues like it being a different shade to the other teeth, or the crown falling off. I know they can last a lifetime but so can a real tooth.

I am also only 16 years old and I thought that my teeth would last me my whole life. I think I am too young to be getting a fake tooth.

What should I ask/tell my orthodontist to help me in this situation? Is a crown the only way to go? Thanks.

I Fed Up Of The Constant Headaches Caused By TMJ Disorder. Please Tell Me Which Treatments Can Help?

Tuesday, July 8th, 2014
Q.

Please help! I have suffered from TMJ for the past 2.5 years have tried antidepressants, and worn soft and hard upper and lower mouth guards at night and had botox in my jaw line. Please advise me of other treatments (arthoscopy?) and could you recommend someone in the Midlands, a nero muscular dentist perhaps or consultant who can do surgery? I’m fed up with being fobbed off by the NHS. The constant headaches and misaligned jaw is making my life unbearable. Thanks.

I Had Braces Five Years Ago But Now My Teeth Are Moving. What Are My Options To Move Them Back Into Place?

Friday, June 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I had braces around 5 years ago now. And ever since my teeth have moved slightly. The gaps from the side of my mouth where I have had teeth out are more visible and the front teeth have moved forward so my first big two teeth have pushed forward. Is there anything that can happen that will not cost thousands of pounds to pull my teeth back into place?
The bottom teeth have inevitably moved also but my main worry are the top teeth as these are more visible.
Thank you.

I’ve Been Diagnosed With TMJ. I’ve Been Told The Muscles Will Never Get Out Of Spasm. Is This True?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have been diagnosed with TMJ disorder and it’s due to clenching my teeth after 18 months of trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I have had an X-ray which shows no damage to the jaw joint and it’s been recommended that I ask my dentist for a bite splint which I’m worried will make it worse. The worst thing is the tightness and muffled feeling in my ears. At times it almost feels like my neck is tight and is pulling on everything. I’ve been told the muscles will never get out of spasm once it’s happened and my ears may always be muffled.  Is this true? I hope you can help me with this as it worries me. Thank you for your time.

When I Smile My Teeth Don’t Show. Is This A Dental Issue Or A Jaw Alignment Issue?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014
Q.

Dear Andrew. When I smile it is very difficult for my teeth to show. Even when I talk you don’t see the top ones that much. Is this a tooth issue or a jaw/lip issue? Can anything be done about this? It causes me a lot of stress and makes me never want to smile.
When I do smile very wide (forced) you can see the teeth more but it looks very unnatural.
My teeth are all very straight (orthodontic work done as a kid) but I feel like that was pointless as I can never smile normally and show them off. I feel like my teeth are too far back in my mouth and that is why they don’t show. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m Want To Know The Length Of Time It Takes For My Braces To Work Before I Go Back To School?

Friday, August 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hello, I received ceramic braces a few weeks ago. I’m very worried because before I had braces, my two front teeth were at the same level. Now, the right tooth has become longer than the left one. I have to go back to school in August and I’m concerned, I don’t want people to make fun of my teeth when I talk or open my mouth to smile. I want to know how much longer I have to wait for my two front teeth to become the same level? Thank you for your time and help you can advise me.

My Front Tooth Has Grown Bigger Than The Other And Looks Very Silly What Can Be Done?

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013
Q.

My two front teeth have grown very straight, however one has stopped growing all together so one is bigger than the other and looks very silly- there has been no cause for this what so ever, it effects my confidence on a numbers of levels and I fear it’s intruding on my social life. I do not have perfectly straight teeth but they have all grown and I have no baby teeth left. I have been to the dentist on several occasions and I am due to go again on Monday but I’m just wondering what the procedure would be; is it possible that they could build up the tooth so it’s the same size as my other one? Would this be a painful procedure? Also could you tell me what the dentist could possibly do about this please and how they could rectify this annoying problem? Thanks.

Following A Blow To The Face, My Teeth Are Pushed Back Slightly. Is This Just The Swelling Or Do I Need To See A Dentist?

Monday, January 7th, 2013
Q.

I was struck in the face by a fleeing suspect the other day at work – they had me sent to the ER just to be safe, everything seemed fine other than bruised and swollen, however, since then I’ve noticed that my left front incisor and the tooth next to it (before the canine) are pushed slightly back, and the incisor is angled ever so slightly so the front incisors are no longer even. It’s very annoying because now my lower incisor hits the top one if I’m not super careful while chewing. I’m still swollen (it’s only been about 30 hours since it happened), and none of the teeth seem to be loose at all. Could this be a result of the swelling, or should I be contacting HR to get my teeth looked at as soon as I can open my mouth that far (still too swollen for anyone to get a good look at anything)?
